About Us

Ashona Medical Institute's History

Ashona Medical Institute was founded in 2012.  It originally started in 2002 as Sleep Studies Inc., Sleep School of Rockdale, which offered a comprehensive program in Sleep Medicine.  In 2008 the curriculum was expanded to offer Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Patient Care Technician (PCT) courses. 

In 2012 the school name was changed to Ashona Medical Institute (the School) and Medical Billing and Coding (MB&C), Phlebotomy Technician (PT) and Medical Assistant (MA) were added to the curriculum.

The School was founded and is owned by Sheweguta Z. Mukahanana, who is also the Director.

  • Organizing and participating in community outreach programs that include free blood pressure tests and more.
  • Visiting schools, advising and educating future students about the great career opportunities in the Healthcare industry.
